Empowering Communications develops distance learning multi-media tools using state of the art digital technology appropriate to the information technology infrastructure of specific countries. Gregory Pirio was led developer of an award-wining interactive computer-based program, Health Journalism, designed to train journalists in improved health reporting. Health Journalism received two prestigious CINDYS (Cinema in Industry Awards) in United States and international competitions. For more on this, click here.

Dr. Pirio has also served as advisor to the WorldSpace satellite corporation in using its unique and inexpensive satellite technology for distance learning. He also is acting as consultant to the University of California School of Nursing in its initiative to use satellite technology to deliver continuing medical education to nurses and other health care professions in parts of Africa and India.
